A free, open-licensed toolkit of ten short "key resources" on core classroom practice from The Open University, written with Indian educators for teachers working in large, under-resourced classrooms with little formal training. It includes dedicated units on using questioning to promote thinking, talk for learning (classroom discussion), pair and group work, and involving all learners — with concrete routines, example questions and worked examples rather than theory. Used by over a million teachers, it gives an emerging educator immediately usable techniques for how they speak, question and respond to learners.
What the teacher gets
- Ready-to-use questioning techniques: wait time, prompting, probing, and sequencing questions from recall to reasoning
- Routines to get every learner talking: hot-seating, question walls, and planning purposeful talk in any subject
- Ways to respond positively to wrong or partial answers so learners keep trying
- Practical structures for pair and group work and for noticing and including quiet or marginalised learners
